If you’re the type that wants to do something that is a little bit different, then consider a pillow box. Lots of times, the candy boxes at the store don’t’ really cut it, but a pillow box is a creative gift that you can give to the one that you love, and they’re crafty, adorable, and they are timely and cutesy.
What you want to do is begin with the following.
First, you need a small piece of cardstock. Cut it out so that it creates a more cylindrical box shape. There are a lot of different box ideas, but getting a pattern that you can start off with will help you with this. What you want to do, is then take some hearts, or any sort of crochet pattern that you can throw on there. If you know how to crochet, maybe put together a heart, either that or just buy a heart from the store that’s in a crocheted, or pillowed shape.
With the box, make sure to put it all together, and use adhesive on one end to hold the contents of this together. Take your candy, and throw it in there. You can also use sequins and such too.
If you want to decorate the outside of the cardstock, you can with acrylic paint or hole-punched dots. Do what you feel will add to the box itself.
Once you’ve amply decorated your box, then you can seal the other side closed, and from there, take some string from this. And from there, wrap each box with some of the thread that you used for crocheting, or any sort of yarn, and you can make it have a beautiful little look.
Take the crocheted pillow, or whatever pillow that you want, and put it into the string, making sure that it’s nice and tight. And then there you go! you’ve got a wonderful candy box, and it is a great way to create a DIY gift that you can sue.
Some people like to use a yarn needle to tie all of this together, personally, if you’re not familiar with that, you don’t’ necessarily have to, but it will allow for cleaner edges, and allow for you to create a more clean look.
You can also add more ribbon that fits the theme of the box as well if you feel like there is more that can be added to your box. it’s a great addition, and it will allow for you to create boxes that you will love.
